CAPMAS reports 169% increase in UAE investments in Egypt in the first half of 2020/2021

Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed on Sunday, that the value of Emirati investments in Egypt increased to reach $ 1.9 billion during the first half of the fiscal year 2021/2022, compared to $712.6 million during the same period in 2020/2021, an increase of 169.1 percent.

CAPMAS indicated that the value of trade exchange between Egypt and the UAE increased by $1.2 billion during the first quarter of 2022, compared to $ 1.1 billion during the same period in 2021, an increase of 1.4 percent.

 

  • The value of the Egyptian imports from the UAE decreased to $ 642.9 million during the first quarter of 2022, compared to $ 793.3 million during the same period in 2021, a decrease of 19 percent.
  • The value of Egyptian exports to the UAE increased to $ 576.7 million during the first quarter of 2022, compared to $ 340.2 million during the same period in 2021, an increase of 69.5 percent.
  • The value of remittances from Egyptians working in the UAE amounted to $ 3.5 billion during the 2020/2021 fiscal year, compared to $ 3.4 billion during the 2019/2020 fiscal year, an increase of 1.4 percent.
  • The value of remittances from Emiratis working in Egypt amounted to $ 39.1 million during the fiscal year 2020/2021, compared to $ 41 million during the fiscal year 2019/2020, a decrease of 4.6 percent.

 

The number of Egyptians in the UAE, according to the the Egyptian mission’s estimates, reached 950,000 until the end of 2020.
